Cherita Tousson-Bowens, M.Ed
With over 30 years of experience in Early Childhood Education, Cherita Tousson-Bowens, M.Ed, is a dedicated Education Consultant passionate about empowering educators and families.
As a former Head Start volunteer, parent, and public school educator, I have witnessed firsthand the value of a holistic approach to serving children and their families. My mission is to support underserved communities by strengthening educational structures and providing impactful experiences that foster long-term growth.
I began my education career as a Parent Coordinator for a Title 1 Grant, where I worked with at-risk parents. I spent my summers mentoring at-risk youth (ages 11-14) in the south suburbs of Chicago, gaining invaluable experience in youth development. With a Bachelor's in Business Administration and a Master's in Early Childhood Education, I began my work in Illinois public schools. In 2009, I returned to Head Start, dedicating myself to the mission of service and advocating for children and families in my community.
My professional journey has included diverse roles such as QRIS System Evaluator, Child Development Specialist, College Professor, Project Manager, Head Start and Early Head Start Director, and Training & Technical Assistance Provider. As a content expert in Early Childhood Education, I have trained and inspired a wide range of audiences, including Head Start parents and staff, daycare providers, administrators, college students, and conference attendees.
Throughout my career, I have partnered with organizations to build cultures of learning and accountability. I offer training and consulting services to educators, education centers, and CDA training both virtually and in-person, aiming to strengthen workforce capabilities and improve outcomes for children, families, and communities.
